Dear Youth Ambassadors,
I am going into my first year of high school. What are some things I should avoid?
Going into your first year can be terrifying but you should surround yourself with friends and people who’ll support you and be there every step of the way. And have school spirit because school spirit brings everyone together.
Things that you should avoid are getting into fights, skipping school, and not focusing in class. Fights are normal in high school and it’s not fun at all. You’re just going to be a freshman. What do you need to fight about? If you skip school, you will have tons of missing work and then you’ll likely fail. If you don’t focus in class, you won’t understand anything. It’s crucial to listen. Remember, it’s high school, not middle school, so it’ll be more challenging. Also, don’t hang out with people who do drugs, smoke, skip or play around too much. It’s your high school life and you should make it fun, memorable and safe.
Create Your Experience
You should avoid people that make fun of you and avoid your friends sometimes, too, because they can interfere with your focus on schoolwork. Avoid the phone and anything else that interferes with your focus.
