Dear Youth Ambassadors,

I have experienced a lot of hurt in my life, which has caused anger to build inside of me. Now, I think I’m going through depression. What should I do to heal this pain?

Sincerely,

Hurting

Dear Hurting,

Everyone has experienced hurt in life. Life comes with ups and downs. You’ll be OK. There are many ways to cope with what’s going on, but what you never do is let emotions build up. Talk to somebody about it because they may be going through the same thing as you. If you can’t talk to someone, write your problems down. As for coping with depression, please talk to a doctor.

Sincerely,

Youth Ambassador

Dear Hurting,

When you’re hurting, you should talk to someone you really trust, and probably also talk to a therapist or your medical doctor. When you get angry, go outside and take deep breaths, and say to yourself, “Breathe in and out. Be calm and relax.”

Sincerely,

Youth Ambassador

Dear Hurting,

You should talk to someone when you feel depressed. Holding in a lot of feelings could break you down a lot more than what the situation is about. If you have a talent or interest, that also can help lessen the pain you feel. But we go through things for a reason and it’s either a lesson or a blessing. You’ll never see a rainbow before a storm. Just keep your head up and keep going and never stop. Don’t let anybody stop you from being you. And you can always go to God because if nobody’s got you, He always will.

Sincerely,

Youth Ambassador
