Youth Ambassadors, established in 2010, is an educational, not-for-profit employment program designed to empower underserved youth with the knowledge that they as teenagers have a vital voice. They have the power to be active participants in their communities, not just passive observers. To this end, we have developed programs that provide our youth with important life skills, soft job skills, creative expression, and academic success, helping them become future community leaders willing and able to work for positive change.

Kansas City Youth Ambassadors

A great percentage of today’s teenagers lack the academic and family support necessary for positive personal growth. For many reasons, in the United States over 3 million teenagers drop out of high school each year. Yet, without a high school diploma only 10 % of these teenagers will be eligible or have the skills necessary for today’s job market. Through the use of educational and creative programming, Youth Ambassadors provides a comprehensive youth development program that addresses these social and academic challenges. As a part of our program, students receive instruction in life skills, including financial responsibility, business etiquette, anger management, crisis resolution, goal setting, time management, smart choices, healthy relationships, and recognition of impediments to success. Students also explore personal thoughts and feelings through therapeutic art and journal writing. In addition, Ambassadors showcase life as a teenager and their surrounding neighborhoods through self-produced documentaries and digital photography. Meaningful connections and relationships developed between our youth and positive adult role models contribute to the academic and personal success of our Ambassadors.
